Real-time Flight Control

Have you been enjoying playing the iPhone game Flight Control? It’s a game where you have to route planes and helicopters to land on a set of runways, keeping the aircraft from hitting each other as slowly more and more aircrafts come on the screen. Here’s a sample screenshot. It’s great fun!

Now check out this radar screenshot from around Chicago’s O’Hare Airport today, with multiple storms having passed through the area during the course of the day, and another huge one coming from the west. Yikes!

Reminds me of ‘Kennedy Approach’ on the C64 — 1985 or there about? It had a great speech engine, for the time, that I can still hear…

This is really a great game. Simple controls, addictive game play and a simple user interface. I would also say that there are not too many games in this category for the iPhone. I have been playing this game for about 4 months. Great at the doctor’s office.

THe real life one is easier. (a) it’s 3D, and (b) if the planes in Flight Control were to scale, then planes would be HUNDREDS OF MILES in wingspan. Which of course would be awesome to see. 🙂
