Pre-E3 Stress Relief

Last night we held the first annual pre-E3 Bay Area stress relief BBQ, at Mike Mika’s place. Okay, I don’t know if I can really call it the “first annual”, but I’m being optimistic here. It was a great time.
Why was it so much fun? Well, first off there was our gracious host, Mike Mika from Digital Eclipse (Backbone Entertainment), and the excellent space his house provides for a party. Many thanks to his wife, who apparently is a very clean and tolerant woman, though peculiarly she is never there for these events… Hmmm… 🙂

Secondly, it was a fabulous crowd, with folks from Digital Eclipse, SCEA, Konami, Planet Moon, and Double Fine. But um, I didn’t take any pictures of the crowd, so you’re going to have to take my word for it.
Yeah, why didn’t I take pictures of the crowd? Well, basically because I was stunned by Mike’s game collection. Here is just a taste. This is one wall:

And a few of the computers in one corner…

And the piece de resistance, Mike’s Erin Gray autograph!

Mike’s dungeon is an amazing space filled with zillions of old games and new games and crazy toys and arcade cabinets. It’s like a McDonald’s PlayLand, but for game developers. But, my server has a slow net connection and I don’t want to spoil ALL the surprises, so I’ve only posted a few pictures here. To see the real thing, you’ll have to talk to Mike about the “second annual” event, or perhaps something in between.
Thanks, Mike!
