Happy Birthday Commodore 64!

Commodore64.jpg

It's the 25th birthday of the Commodore 64, happy birthday! CNN has a piece about it, and the Computer History Museum is having a celebration on December 10.

The lovable little computer was my first introduction to affordable home computing. I had cut my baby teeth on a TRS-80 for a few years, and stayed late at school to work on the (play on the) Apple II computers, but the C-64 was the first machine that seduced me into bringing it home.

A friend of mine sold me his C-64, monitor, disk drive, and collection of games for $300. That seemed like a lot of money to a kid in high school! But it opened up the world of game development to me, and for that it will always have a fond place in my heart. Happy birthday!
