Weekend in Seattle

Last weekend MB and I zipped up to Seattle for a quick weekend getaway, to see my parents for Father’s Day. We spent Saturday in the city, then drove down to see my parents just south of Tacoma.
When we arrived late Friday night, we couldn’t get to our hotel!
Somehow or other, a vehicle was lying on its side in the middle of the intersection, so all around our hotel was marked off with yellow tape. We ended up parking a few blocks away and asking the valet to go get our car when the coast was clear. Crazy! We seem to have interesting “car”-ma when it comes to getting to our hotel. On our trip to Australia we also found ourselves unable to get to our hotel, which was in the middle of a half-marathon…
Once we did arrive, our hotel offered us a pet for the duration of our stay to keep us happy. I think Athena was a little LESS than pleased to be with us in that tiny bowl…
Saturday morning we went to Pike Place Market and did the pilgrimage to the first Starbucks (founded 1971). This is an absolute must!
The fruits and vegetables in the market there were just beautiful. I had a hard time not buying a big ol’ Copper River king salmon and bringing it home to eat…
While in Seattle we visited the Space Needle and EMP, and had amazing meals at The Met, Lola, and Campagne. It was a whirlwind day filled with good food, wine, and scenery. Sorry I didn’t see most of you whom I know up there!
