Getting ready for E3 06

Well, here I am in Los Angeles. We’re getting ready for this year’s Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) at the Los Angeles Convention Center – and it’s going to be a doozy! Of course. ๐Ÿ™‚
This year we’ll get to see the second wave of 360 games, the first playable titles on the Wii, and… you’ll have to wait to see what we’re going to show on PS3!
Getting into the city today was remarkably easy, considering the massive marches that have been going on in Los Angeles today. The good news is, all of those people who are marching are not on the roads, so getting to the hotel from LAX was easier than I’ve ever seen it! In fact I’m staring out at the freeway right now, and even at 6:30pm, in the middle of downtown Los Angeles, the traffic is flowing smoothly. That’s a shocker.
Unfortunately, that doesn’t seem to have affected the amount of smog in the air. Yuck!
I brought along a new toy on this trip – LocationFree TV. I’m not exactly a huge TV watcher, but my TiVo gleefully records The Sopranos, Battlestar Galactica, The Daily Show, and Simply Wine for me in addition to a few other shows. I was able to cheaply buy a LocationFree TV base station that had been refurbished, so I figured, why not set it up to use during the show? After much less pain than I had expected, I can now control my TiVo at home via the Internet and stream its output to my laptop or PSP here in Los Angeles. How cool is that?
Tonight I’m meeting up with Alan and Doug for some dinner… I’m not sure what we’ll be eating, it’s a mystery Alan is keeping. I’m sure it’ll be eventful. I’ll be here in LA for two weeks and I’m sure the whole thing will be an interesting adventure. Will chronicle it here for you all. ๐Ÿ™‚
From LA,

Holy crap! HOw far in advance do you need to be there?!? The show is NEXT WEEK!
Oh well, see you there. I get down on Tuesday.
The locationfree thing is neat. I run media center at home and run Orb (www.orb.com) on my laptop and it lets me do basically the same thing. It’s not perfect, but it’s free! I used it when in Japan to watch a few shows, and I also set up accounts for friends from time to time to let them see a show they can’t get in canada.
