More sleep, please

This evening I got very excited, as the ISSCC press releases about the CELL processor went out from HQ. (The CELL is the core processor for the next-generation PlayStation and other Sony products.) This meant that I needed to get to my laptop and send out a massive spam to many of our key game developers. I want to make sure that they have direct access to the actual press releases, as opposed to attempting to cull information out of the articles posted on game sites. I was super excited and perhaps a little extra caffeinated, but hungry. So I wandered off down Regent Street and then Oxford Street, looking for somewhere to get some takeaway (not “to go”, but “takeaway”) food for dinner.
I ended up at a McDonald’s. Now as a rule, I never wander under the golden arches, but what the hell, I knew I could get “food” fast there. To my surprise, they had an array of vegetarian choices, so I ended up with a “Quorn Premiere”. Quorn is a meat-like substance made from mushroom-like thingies, very protein rich and a pretty respectable chicken substitute. The sandwich came with some chinese-style sweet spicy sauce, mayo, lettuce, tomato, and so on. It was pretty respectable! Nice to see decent options at McD.
I rushed back to the hotel, did a quick formatting of the docs, some data mangling to get the addresses in good shape, and fired them off. It’s the first time we’ve done that, but I’m personally committed to making sure that our developers can get information straight from Sony for now on, as opposed to hearing crap through the press. So this was a worthwhile reason to stay up late for sure.
Here are the press releases – public info, so no problem posting here!

I went to sleep for a few hours (it was only 11pm, but I was feeling pretty whipped) and was awakened by the phone: one of my co-workers, at 1:30am, who I had asked to call me to chat about an issue with some PS2 packaging. After a quite batty and amusing conversation (to me, in my addled state) I recalled that I was supposed to call someone in the US up for an interview to see if they’d be a good fit to join our group at Sony. Fortunately I was able to pull my brain together enough for that. But now here I am and it’s 3:30am and I’m questioning if I’ll be able to get back to sleep.
Will give it a shot though. Good night!
