Good times in SF

My old friend Dante Treglia came for a visit this weekend. It was great to see him, it had been quite awhile since the last time we really got to sit down and talk about life. Dante and I used to work together at Nintendo of America in Redmond; in the years since he has moved on to Electronic Arts Canada, while I now work at Sony in California.

We took time this weekend to first catch up over a fabulous bottle of Silver Oak cabernet sauvignon and some steak at Morton’s. Then on Saturday we took a long walk around the city. The Ferry Plaza Farmer’s Market was our beginning destination, and it turned out to be an amazingly popular place on a Saturday morning. The weather was gorgeous, and people watching was first-rate.

We gradually wound our way toward Coit Tower, and had the good fortune of spying the wild parrots of Telegraph Hall on the way up the stairs to the tower (those stairs are numerous and treacherous, incidentally, but the gardens there are beautiful).
The views from Coit Tower are pretty impressive, I must say.


After visiting Coit Tower we walked down to Pier 39 for some of San Francisco’s signature dish (no, I don’t mean clam chowder in a sourdough bowl), cioppino. I know Pier 39 is a total tourist trap, but really, who can resist the sea lions?

We walked back home through Chinatown, stopping on the way for a quick coffee in North Beach.
After drinking too much Friday night, and walking too much Saturday, we basically sat on our duffs for the rest of Dante’s visit, playing Katamari Damacy.
Who could ask for a better weekend, really?
